Dr. S.R. Ranganathan Library
Shyamlal Saraswati Mahavidyalaya, Shikarpur is situated at Meerut-Badaun State Highway and committed to provide Quality Education with Indian Culture to Students of Rural/Urban Area for their overall development from last 25 Years.
SSMV Central Library was established in year 2000 to serve the academic community of the College and the surrounded area. Library has Approx. 3000 Sq.Ft. covered area for its users. The Library is known as Dr. S. R. Ranganathan Library. Dr. S.R. Ranganathan is called Father of Indian Library Science. He is well known for his great work in the area of Library Science in India.

The Library has two well spacious and ventilated Libraries for Education and Science/Arts /Commerce Students separately, situated at Ground Floor for easy access of Staff and Students. There is well furnished furniture for Long Time Study of Staff/ Students. Daily Newspapers and Magazines are available to enhance the knowledge. Library is automated using Integrated Library Management System Software TECHLIB, to manage all library activities like Book Circulation and Accessioning, OPAC, Generating Reports, Issuing No Dues Certificates for Staff/Students etc. Both Libraries have a good collection of Reference Books like Journals, Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Religious Books, Atlases, Education Surveys, Commission Reports, CDs/DVDs, Periodicals, NCTE/NCERT Publications, Dissertations and Ph.D. Thesis etc. Open access facility is available for Users to effective referencing and exploring of books related to their interest. Library staff conducts orientation and information literacy programs to educate Staff/Students about Library uses and its functioning time to time.
Mission
The mission of the library is to support the research and educational endeavors of the Students, Research Scholars (M.Ed.) and Faculty of SSMV College by collecting, organizing, preserving, and disseminating information in Printed as well as Digital form, by providing effective services and utilizing Library Resources.
Membership
College library membership is open only to the faculty members, students and research scholars (M.Ed.) of the College. Besides these members, the library also serves to the consultant members coming from the different educational Institution and surrounded area of the College.
Collection
For the acquisition of books, our policy is to acquire latest and relevant books of presently running college courses i.e. Arts, Science, Commerce & Education. Our aim is to build up a rich collection of books & other resources to meet the teachers and students requirements.
Besides acquisition against payment, the library also received donated books from Faculty, Students and Individuals.

Services
The library remains open throughout the year except holidays as prescribed in the College Calendar. Its working time is from 9.00 A.M. to 5 P.M. Circulation time is from 9.30 A.M. to 3.30 P.M.

E-Library Rules
- Computer in the library should be used for academic purposes only.
- Online chatting/dating, browsing of social networking sites is strictly prohibited. Strict disciplinary action will be taken against the defaulters.
- Readers should not share their Internet access ID and Password with other students.
- Changing the settings and display of the computers kept in the Library is not permitted.
- Readers should not remove/unplug computer cables/connections, network cables and other peripherals/accessories in the library.
- Personal keyboard, mouse, etc are not allowed inside the Library.
- Students must take care of their Pen drives, CD/DVD ROMs, mobiles and wallets etc.
E-Resources
With globalization of education and competitive research the demand for the Digital Documents / E-Resources has increased over the years.
SSMV College Library is an active member of National Digital Library of India and provided access to E- Resources for College Faculty Members and Students. National Digital Library of India (NDLI) is a virtual repository of learning resources which is not just a repository with search/browse facilities but provides a host of services for the learner community. It is sponsored and mentored by Ministry of Education, Government of India, through its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT). It covers almost all areas of learning like Arts, Science, Commerce, Education etc. with contents like E-Books, E-Journals, Video Lectures etc. Besides it C.C.S. University Digital Libaray and Bridge Library is also available for Faculties as well as students. The E-Library is equipped with 18 computers & internet facility. Students are free to search scholary contents on Internet with help of E-Library.

Library Automation
The automation of Central library has been taken as the priority and it is partially automated since 2010. Presently TECHLIB Library software has been installed for the automation of the library. 20 computers have already been installed in the various sections of the library and all are connected with Wi-Fi & LAN. 20 UPS of 500 VA, One Multi Function Printer/ Photocopier and one Laser Printer are some of the other equipments available in library. Bar Code Technology is using for Circulation, OPAC, Reports generating and No Dues etc.
