Laboratories
Shyamlal Saraswati Mahavidyalaya comprises a variety of science courses. All the laboratories are well equipped with latest equipment and apparatus to facilitate students with the opportunity to undertake experiments with great precision and high accuracy. Every department has excellent laboratory infrastructural facilities and students are trained in the laboratories to enhance their practical skills and knowledge. New and updated equipments are regularly incorporated in labs with the latest technology which gives the students an added advantage. The laboratory facilities are centralized and the specific set of experiments is catered by the concerned Departments.
The specifications of laboratories are as follows:-
Botany Labs
Botany lab is furnished with the best equipment to facilitate learning by observing, performing and comprehending the plant kingdom. The Botany department contains one lab for conducting the practical classes of students. It offers facilities to familiarize students with common experiments and principles necessary for a sound foundation in the plant sciences. The lab is properly air ventilated, fire resistant and well equipped with first aid kits to deal with any mishaps. The lab is well maintained with expert lab assistant and attendant. For practical classes, boards and projection systems are available. Additionally, there are diverse instruments, chemicals and glass wares that are necessary for practical. Some of the important instruments include Centrifuge Machine, Spectrophotometer, Digital Thermometer, LUX Meter, Microscopes (Compound, Dissecting, Binocular), pH Meter, Water baths, etc.
Chemistry Labs
The Department of Chemistry at SSMV has a well-equipped laboratory for conducting practical classes, which are managed by well-experienced and capable staff, to meet the need and to cultivate students' enthusiasm in science. The lab is created to be fire resistant and has facilities of fire extinguishers along with first aid kits in order to handle any kind of mishap. With new innovations and different facilities like Filtration Room, Balance Room, Preparation Room, Instrument Room and others, the Laboratory has been modernized and properly supplied with equipment and glassware to make studying more fascinating and pleasant. Furthermore, the laboratory is equipped with the entire required infrastructure and equipment to conduct practical in accordance with the standards outlined in the many multidisciplinary course syllabuses. A separate instrument room has been set aside for various instrumental chemistry practical in addition to the laboratory.
Physics Lab
The College understands the need for a state of the art laboratory for physics with updated and calibrated equipment for inquisitive students who are willing to create new collective knowledge and foster the next generation of scientific leaders. The physics lab is well equipped with required apparatuses to help students take part in various experiments related to the subject. It has measuring equipments such as Vernier Calipers, Spectrometers, magnetic equipment like Bar Magnets, Iron Fillings for magnetism, optical instruments such as Telescopes, Microscopes, Lenses, Mirrors, Prisms, along with electrical equipment such as Rheostats, Slide Wires etc. to facilitate the electronics students as well.
Zoology Labs
This Lab provides a suitable environment to develop a detailed understanding of the animal kingdom by exploring the physical, morphological and physiological characteristics of animals. The laboratory presents through its instruments an ideal place for undergraduate students to study the histology of various cells, tissues and organs. The Zoology Lab has all required equipments and apparatuses for smooth practical. It has all the chemicals required to preserve different type of organs.
Biotech Lab
The Biotechnology Laboratory at SSMV offers state-of-the-art facilities for inquiry-based laboratory investigations and hands-on activities to help students better appreciate the promise of biotechnology and understand its tools and techniques. The laboratory has latest equipment to conduct various biotechnological experiments starting with basic cell biology to modern DNA analysis. The lab provides hands-on experience in biotechnology techniques and instrumentation with foster research and innovation in biotechnology. The laboratory is equipped with Laminar Air Flow Unit, PCR Machine, Gel Electrophoresis Systems, Micropipettes, UV Trans-Illuminator, Orbital Shaker, Autoclave, Centrifuges, UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Water bath, Freezer, Incubators, Magnetic stirrer, pH meter, Desiccators and other biotechnology equipment required for conducting meaningful experiments. The lab can accommodate up to 60 students simultaneously for performing hands-on activities and lab experiments.
Computer Labs
The College has two well-equipped and well-managed Computer Laboratories. They are fully air-conditioned and are equipped with the latest technology as per the need of the present era. Computer Labs are equipped with the latest software and workstations. They are connected to high speed broadband internet and Wi-Fi for smooth lab work. Robust servers are connected through a structured network to handle the load. These Labs have the latest computers with up-to-date operating systems and equipment. They have state-of-the-art machines from HP/Lenovo and LCD Projectors along with an interactive board and all the necessary peripherals. The labs have high quality monitors, keyboards, printers, LCD Screens etc. Our dedicated faculty and staff are constantly worked to update the knowledge of students. Also all labs are connected with big UPSs and Generators for smooth practical.
Physical Sciences Laboratory
Science laboratory plays a vital role in the teaching learning process. It helps the student to learn the subject by doing experiments himself and this helps to fulfill the need of psychomotor domain part of the taxonomy of educational objectives. There is a well furnished science laboratory which is installed with modern equipment and apparatuses and instruments. Physical Science learning becomes more interesting when Student-Teachers are able to understand the subject well and to apply the acquired knowledge practically. Our College has well equipped and ventilated physical science laboratory with all essential facilities. Apparatus, instruments and chemicals pertaining to Physics and Chemistry topics from Standards IX to XII are systematically arranged and the cupboards are labeled such that their contents can be easily accessed.
Psychology Laboratory
In any scheme of study there should be a close integration of theory with practice. We have a curiosity to know intellectual level, interests, aptitudes, personality, adjustment etc. We can know such things about them through their measurements & this measurement is possible through relevant psychological tests. The college has a separate psychology Laboratory which has sufficient psychological apparatus, tests, which are related to various aspects of human development and teaching learning process for conducting psychology experiments included in the B.Ed. syllabus.
Information Communication Technology/Language Lab
We have an Educational Technology / Language lab with a large number of modern teaching aids, which are used by the members of the staff. These teaching aids help in explaining various concepts and processes, which are not otherwise easy to explain. Some of these teaching aids are Film Projector, Overhead Projector, Color TVs, DVD Players, Epidiascopes, Multimedia Projector etc. Apart from these, there is a variety of material like Models, Cassettes, CDs, DVDs, Charts, Scientific Apparatus and Agricultural Equipments, which are commonly used for teaching purposes.
Art and Craft lab
It is a place where learners can express their artistic views and can develop and show their imagination power. Students can also build a personality of positive thinking with proper attitude. This lab is the place of experiments with creativity. Here are various types of activities related to art and craft such as waste material utilization, painting, printing, decoration flower arrangement, candle making, TLM etc. have been conducted. Our hugely experienced expert teachers heartily help the learners to show their talent.
